You are very likely to be traveling while reading this e-mail. Or you might be at one of the pre-meetings that are organised in various places. If so, we hope you are doing great and that you met a lot of hitchhikers already!

Most important: the Meeting Space will be at the Shevchenko Park. You can find a map here http://osm.org/go/0iaj7Ffq--

As most of you know already, there is no organised accomodation. According to some locals, it is unlikely we can sleep in the park where we will meet (but who knows what will happen). Some people are therefore scouting for a place where we can camp without much trouble.

Just like in Paris last year, we will have a meeting about this on the 7th itself to decide where we all (those who do not have an alternative) could sleep. We hope this will be a nice warm place close to the beach :)

We intend to have 1 or 2 extra days of coming together to do skillsharing, exchange of hitchhiking stories, games to get to know each other, and to do workshops. We will set this up ad-hoc in the park, or in the place where we will also be sleeping.

1. camping place in Odessa

Hey, we're in Odessa right now. Some people went to the nudist beach location where we're gonna sleep tonight, but the rest of us still at the Shevchenko monument in the park and we're gonna be there until ~10pm today.

For those of you who will reach Odessa late at night:

we're staying at the nudist beach. It's next to the place called "Skalodrom" and it's not far from the city center and the park between "Delfin" and "Arkadia" city beaches. Take the tram #5 (from the bus or train station e.g.) and go until the "Sanatorij Chkalova" stop. You can also go there on foot (just ask locals where the "Yunost'" (Юность) hotel is and go down to the sea then.

Just ask any local where the "nudist beach" ("nudistskii pliazh" in russian) or "skalodrom" is!

I think we're gonna meet up again tomorrow (Saturday) in the park at shevchenko monument.

2. we hitchhiked here, now we stay in hotels. hostels, pay camps??

hi everyone
well the idea of staying in a hostel or pay camping etc etc, seems very nice too me, espically the shower part, i am a dirty fucker at this point after 6 days of hitching (not that that is long). but i think that maybe its just a bit too comfortable??
what do you think.
sure we all need to sleep, but we have the numbers so we will be safe. there are some nice areas near the beach with trees (we all love trees!) that i suppose we could camp near (i dont have a tent just sleep on the relaxing earth with the stars above) until the police tell us otherwise. really i think we should all stick together in the evenings, eating food and having fun talking under the stars. also near by there are showers for 30 euro cents, which i plan to use in the near future!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe this will be a good way to stick together instead of to split up. and im sure some of you are like me, no money?
what are some more thoughts and ideas??????

3. No renting, no camping

Hi,
I arrived in Odessa this morning. I'm personally against the whole idea to rent a space-stay in a camp because:
1/ we would need to divede ourselves in little groups
2/ in a camping we would be required to be quiet after 11 and they would not be able to host 100 of us

I think the whole idea of the 789n meeting is to stay together for 3 days. I've been exploring aroubnd with Shaun and foubnd a place next to the beach, easy reacheble using tram 5 (10 cents) and getting off at cahatopin. It's a beautiful forest with several bone fires next to the beach.

I will not pay for rent nor for camping so if more people want to join we can go ther after the meeting on the 7th.

there are cheap hotels: Passage (right in the center, Deribasovskaya str), Zirka (Uspenskaya 70), and Tokyo Star (Vodoprovodnaya)

renting a flat together with other people would also be a cheap option
